This campaign seeks to harness the power of Earth Day to personalize the massive challenge that climate change presents, while uniting people around the globe into a powerful call to action. Earth Day Network is collecting images of people, animals, and places affected by climate change, as well as images of people doing their part in the fight against climate change.

On and around Earth Day (April 22), an interactive digital display of all the images will be shown at thousands of events around the world — from schools to parks to government buildings. The display will also be made available online to anyone who wants to view or show it.

Wildlife face many threats around the world, from poaching to habitat loss. Global climate change also threatens to destabilize already stressed ecosystems.

This infographic takes a quick look at some of the biggest threats, as well as some of the better known species under assault.

Unfortunately, for every charismatic animal listed — polar bears, penguins, rhinos, etc. — there are scores of lesser known animals (and don’t forget plants!), from alligator snapping turtles tosuckermouth catfish.

One of my all time favorite documentaries is Man on Wire. On 7 August 1974 Philippe Petit crossed the gap between the twin towers of the World Trade Center. He balanced on the suspended high-wire for 45 minutes.

Brian Mosbaugh a member of the Moab Monkeys group - famous adrenaline-seekers - on high-wire 3000m above Rio de Janeiro.
